With changes in North Carolina in regard to opioid prescribing requirements for continuing education, the launch of a new online program on safe opioid prescribing through AHEConnect is well timed. The cost is $15 for three hours through August 2016 and then it goes up, so please let providers know and share with your contacts!
Mountain AHEC, working with the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, The Governor’s Institute on Substance Abuse, and Project Lazarus: A Project of CCNC, is pleased to present this online education:
A Guide to Rational Opioid Prescribing for Chronic Pain
This online course is designed for all prescribing health care practitioners who are interested in an overview of the rational prescribing approaches for persons with chronic pain disorders. It will identify trends in rates of prescribing opioid analgesics; consider problems with historical opioid prescribing; and describe the challenges as well as best practices for prescribing opioid analgesics. This offering will fulfill the North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners, Nursing, Podiatry Examiners and the North Carolina Medical Boards requirement of at least one hour of continuing education that is designed specifically to address prescribing practices for chronic pain management
