Re:      VISION Network

During the current academic year we have been providing access to the VISION Videoconferencing Network for all AHEC staff and faculty and for programs sponsored by AHECs.  Through the first eight months of the year, this service cost the Program Office approximately $8,000.  Our sense is that by offering the VISION Network free of charge, there has been an increase in usage by several groups, and that with some additional publicity that use may increase even more for committee meetings and other small group conferences.


In order to continue to encourage use of the VISION Network, the Program Office will provide one more year of access to the Network at no charge to the individual AHECs.  The Program Office will cover line charges and other direct costs, just as we have over the past year.  I hope you will continue to encourage members of your faculty and staff to utilize the Network whenever possible, particularly given the costs of gas and related charges for travel.
