Patients experiencing dental anxiety often present with advanced disease, unmet treatment needs, and heightened emotional distress, creating challenges for both patients and dental professionals.\r\n\r\nThis continuing professional development program explores evidence-based behavioral approaches for recognizing, assessing, and managing dental anxiety across diverse patient populations. Participants will examine the psychological and behavioral factors that contribute to dental fear, identify common triggers and manifestations of anxiety, and learn practical communication techniques that promote trust, comfort, and patient engagement. The program will also address trauma-informed care principles, motivational interviewing strategies, and approaches for managing anxiety in children, older adults, and patients with special healthcare needs.\r\n\r\nThrough case-based discussion and practical application, participants will gain tools to create a more supportive dental environment, improve patient experiences, and increase treatment acceptance while reducing anxiety-related barriers to care.\r\n<p style=\"font-size:75%; background-color:red; color:white;\"> Substitutes\/Refunds\/Transfers <\/p><p style=\"font-size:75%;\"> - Cancellations must be in writing (fax, email, or mail) <br> - Registrants cancelling between two weeks and two full business days prior to the first day of the event are refunded at 70% of the registration fee subject to a minimum $25 cancellation fee. <br> - No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than two full business days prior to the event. <br> - Cancellations greater than 2 weeks prior to the event will receive 100% refund. <br> - No vouchers will be issued in lieu of a refund. <br> - Transfers\/substitute(s) welcome at discretion of Program Director. <br> - Attendance at this activity grants permission for Southern Regional AHEC to use any photographs, audio, video, or other images from this activity for promotional or educational purposes.
