She is a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in clinical practice, education, supervision, and suicide prevention. Her clinical and academic work focuses on suicide risk assessment, safety planning, suicide-focused clinical interventions, and strategies to reduce access to lethal means.\r\n\r\nMs. Menzel is a certified trainer in Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), Coping with Long-Term Active Suicide, and the Stanley-Brown Safety Planning Intervention. She provides training and consultation to healthcare professionals, behavioral health providers, educators, and other professionals working with individuals at risk for suicide. Her work also includes research and quality improvement initiatives focused on suicide prevention in primary care and among high-risk youth.
